ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The 2014 JEEP BVI Mountain Bike Series re-convenes after a summer recess, this Sunday, September 14, 2014 with the 7th event, the Zion Hill-Steele Point Race.

The race will start at 7.00 am from Sebastian’s in Apple Bay, head to Carrot Bay and a marked turnaround point, return to Sebastian’s and then over Zion Hill, head west around Steele Point back to Sebastian’s for the first lap. Riders will then head back over Zion Hill, west again around Steele point, with the finish at Sebastian’s.

Riders will be pleased to note that the second lap does not include the Carrot Bay section.

Organisers will also make a decision on a teens/junior course at registration and based on turnout, but have already stated, due to safety concerns, that there will be no Cadet races.

After six races, with four (maybe five) more to go, in the JEEP BVI Mountain Bike Series, Philippe “French Toast” Leroy is solidly leading with 150 points. He has won five races but missed the first race of the season because of a broken leg.

The battle is on for second and third place. Proving that consistency pays dividends, Jim Cullimore is second with 115 points, while Alastair Abrehart is one point behind in third place.

Rusty Burns, another consistent rider who slogs it out at every race is fourth with 108 points. Dave Pettigrew, who has missed two races, is standing at 89 points, but can easily topple some of those further up the leaderboard.

Registration opens for the Zion Hill-Steele Points race at 6.45am.
