Too many people jump the lights. I was shocked this afternoon to see the police blatantly make a turn on what had been red for about 30 seconds, What kind of message did that one idiot cop send out to those that saw?

You lie, you ain't see no police run no light, you just want to put that up to spark a debate now on the police.

The police do give tickets for going through orange lights must more so for running a red light.

You can turn left on red once nothing is coming on the right, so if the police did do that it's not an issue.

That is a US law and does not apply here. It is ILLEGAL to go on a red no matter what direction and no matter if there is nothing coming.

If this was the turn to go onto station ave from the west bound lane and the lights were green with no arrow light on red, you CAN turn if there is NO traffic coming from the round-about on the East bound lane. I don't believe any police officer blatantly running a red light after waiting for 30 seconds UNLESS an emergency call was received and they had to go proceeding through the light with caution.

Firstly, I hope that those involved in the accident will be okay. I must say however that it was only a matter of time before this happened. There is a level of recklessness displayed by drivers that is scary. The disregard for the law not to mention life is appalling. Running the stop lights has become a norm. After experiencing a few close calls at the traffic lights I don't move off as soon as they change. I wait and check to see that the approaching motorist has stopped. Of course the person behind me will blow the horn but I prefer to be cautious.
There is an urgent need for cameras to be placed at the stop lights so that those who are breaking the law can be fined and repeat offenders should lose their driver's license. Hopefully that will make a difference.
The sad thing is that the wait at the lights is not long at all and so I don't even understand the impatience. Tortola is not a big place so how much of a delay will stopping at the lights create? If time is the issue how about leaving earlier so that you can reach your destination on time.
Let's get back to being a people who respect life and the law. Slow down! Obey the traffic laws! Exercise patience!

There are cameras by the traffic lights at Treasure Isle. I can't say if they are working.

I have noticed that reckless and impatient drivers who refuse to wait in line for the stop light to give you the go ahead from the area of nagico cross walk to the stop sign these drivers speed up go in the lane as if they are going in by sunny caribee parking lot but thats not where they are going they just cut over infront and keep going some put on their blinker but past the hospital and thats a regular i have seen it more than once these people dont have regards for others life people slow down speed dont drive speed kills take warning i beg ooooh

We are at the stage where even when the inevitable death occurs at those lights, nothing will change. The general lawlessness shown by drivers shows they are past caring.
Also, the fact that parents still travel with small children unsecured in their cars shows that people just think "it will never happen to me".
Unfortunately, someone will become a statistic but nobody will learn from it, so the only way to change this is for prosecution of law breakers. Let's have cameras for a start and follow though with prosecuting the law breakers.
