CONAREE, St Kitts & Nevis, WI – Police in St Kitts and Nevis (SKN) have confirmed that two persons were shot – one fatally - today February 16, 2015 in the Conaree area of St Kitts, but it has not been confirmed whether the shootings are elections related or not.

Today is election day in St Kitts and Nevis and it is expected that Team Unity – a coalition of three Opposition parties – will prevail against the Labour Party regime of Dr the Honourable Denzil L. Douglas.

Droves of Kittitians and Nevisians have been returning to the country from all over North America, Europe, the Caribbean and here in the Virgin Islands in order to vote and make their voices heard.

Numerous news outlets have reported that many have chartered flights to St Kitts and Nevis for the elections.

This news site in an effort to seek confirmation on reports of a shooting today called its sources on the twin-island country and they have all confirmed the shooting.

We also called the Press and Public Relations Officer of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force Inspector Lyndon David who confirmed the shooting. He however did not release names of victims or provide further details regarding the circumstances.

“Yes there was a shooting today in the Conaree area. Two persons were shot, one fatally,” he said. “The other is in hospital. We are investigating and so I cannot say if it is linked to the elections,” said Inspector David.

This news site will bring you breaking reports of the elections and other related news as they become available.
