ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Two lucky ticket holders will be breaking the new year as the proud owners of brand new cars, thanks to the latest Tola Radio VI raffle dubbed 'Car for a Dollar- Part II'.

The grand drawing will take place on New Year’s Eve and persons are encouraged to purchase as many tickets to increase their chances to win.

In an interview with Virgin Islands News Online, Floyd ‘Heritage’ Burnett, Owner and Manager of Tola Radio VI, explained that this time around they have expanded the game and doing things better by offering 13 additional persons a chance to win assorted prizes every week when they purchase tickets.

“This time we expanded the game. We are doing it a little better and bigger and created a way for more people to actually win. So what we did this time is we have two cars for the grand prize and there are 13 other prizes that we are giving away weekly.”

Weekly prizes

Six persons have already benefitted from the weekly drawings. The draws are held every Friday between 6:00 P.M. -8:00 P.M., on Tola Radio VI, and occasionally in public. These prizes include cash, gas, grocery, television, phones, watches, I-pads, trips, Camcorders, bicycles, spa treatments and power tools.

Family Support Network to benefit

Burnett also intends to donate to charitable organisations with proceeds from the raffle.

“We encourage the public to take part and we would also like to make some donations to one or two charities and I think on the top of our list is Family Support Network. We are encouraging those who are not in the game to enter the game,” he said.

Ticket locations

There are several locations to purchase tickets, including Mellow Moods, Dennis Gas Station on Tortola, Trellis Bay on Beef Island, Bucks Food Market in Virgin Gorda, Big Bamboo in Anegada, Rudy’s in Jost Van Dyke and Restaurant 39 in St Thomas US Virgin Islands.

Each car is valued at $17,500 and a minimum of 10 ticketshave to be purchased to enter at $ 1 per ticket. There is also a ticket hotline -541-3606 for interested persons who may want to place orders.

The vehicles to be won will receive one year of insurance from Caribbean Insurers Limited and if someone in the USVI wins he or she would receive free shipping to that territory.

The promotion started over six weeks ago.

The game is in partnership with Burke's Garage and the Association to Preserve Virgin Islands Heritage. Some of the sponsors are Virgin Islands News Online, Autland Heavy Equipment Ltd, Caribbean Insurers Limited, Caribbean Cellars, ZROD FM and BVI News Online.

If that was to ever happen, I'm sure you're not going to want to hear the price of that ticket!! You might have to go take out a loan to buy one!!

sounds like a good contest for a good cause. too bad it is putting more cars on the road at a time when cars are being
discouraged across the US and Europe. And an island is small! They are expensive, not free, insurance, taxes, gas, add up.
