2 prison officers stabbed by inmate of HMP

- injuries reportedly not life threatening

BALSAM GHUT, Tortola, VI- An altercation involving two prison officers and an inmate of Her Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut, on the main island of Tortola, resulted in the two prison officers receiving stab wounds yesterday, November 17, 2017, according to reports reaching our newsroom.

The incident allegedly took place sometime after 2:00 P.M.

One prison officer was stabbed on his hand while the other was stabbed in the region of the face.

Both officers were taken to Peebles Hospital but were not listed as being in critical condition.

The prisoner involved in the stabbing is believed to be a St Kitts national.

The instrument used by the prisoner to commit the offence is believed to be a knife, which was recovered, according to reports.

Police did not respond to our queries on the matter up to the time of publication.

    Wow that foot guy is some kinda prison superintendent he is like a weather man the more wrong you are the better they treat you then you get a promotion for bad work that foot guy he's the best

    I read recently that the entire prison was searched and and a lot of weapons and other devices were found, so where did that inmate found that knife?

    please BVI wake up. This cannot happen else where without very very serious consequences. A minimum of 10 years should be added to the sentence of any who assaults a prison officer while carrying out his duties

    That hold place is corupt junior staff in senior meeting and only have a few years in d jail that how foot have them not doing nothing just drawing a salary white man coming they appear on d compound for a few seconds then they dispear in d parking lot they need to go on shift as d hour reach they gone to much chief and no indian as school children say

    Not listed in critical condition....well I would not expect that from the little scratches I see on them when they come hospital. The inmate on the other hand was badly beaten and had to take about 20 stitches. But to cover their tracks they run come hospital. We all know how this go and I am sure this happens in the police force a lot too. It seems as though the courts assume that you are innocent if you are an officer especially if you are refusing to let the inmates press charges against you.
