CANE GARDEN BAY, Tortola, VI - For the first time in the Virgin Islands (VI), a festival has been created during the spring time for the enjoyment of music, sailing, and fun in one weekend and it’s called “BVI Spring Fest & Black Jack Run.”

This will be held on the beach front of Quito’s in Cane Garden Bay, Tortola and according to organizers, “it’s set to be a grand weekend March 27th, 28th and 29th.”

“The BVI Spring Fest committee has put together a weekend full of activities with action beginning on Thursday night March 26, 2015 with a grand opening and meet the artistes party. Fans will have the opportunity to get autographs and party with artistes. Friday our weekend begins at 3pm with a live DJ at Quito’s enjoying the happy hour specials until 6pm. At 7pm the action goes to Quito’s Beach front where the beach will be transform to a party ambience for “Old School Friday,” said one of the committee members.

He said that the ‘Old School Friday’ was created to start off the weekend with a twist as DJs will be filling the air with old school hits, and also there will be a tribute to Nick “Daddy Friday” of the VI Legendary Jamband where the DJ will play a segment of Jamband’s hits to the delight of his fans.

To cap off the night, there will be two international performances by a legendary reggae and calypso entertainer that is guaranteed to have you singing hit after hit. "The fun doesn’t stop there as a party isn’t a party without an after party; the action moves inside Quito’s for an “Old School Friday” after party. Grown Folks, mid age, and even the young who are curious to see what old school was all about; this is a night that will blow you away so don’t miss out on this opportunity of knowledge, memories, and fun," the committee said.

“Saturday the fun continues with a BBQ beach party starting at 12noon, with a live DJ on the beach, lots of water sports and food for your pleasure. Then at 7pm we bring to you 'New School Saturday' where the DJs will fill the air with the new school hits and hot local performers, and then there will be entertainment by two of the hottest Road March champs bands in the Virgin Islands, the action gets even hotter as our main act consists of a 2014/15 Grammy nominated and American based entertainer who will be lighting up the beach with their performances. This will be a night of tempo and hype, so young people, mid age, and even grown folks who want to get their grove back don’t miss this one,” this news site was told.

Sunday the Spring Fest takes its fun and entertainment to the beautiful seas of the Territory for the first Black Jack Run. This run is schedule to set sail from Cane Garden Bay playing a hand of black Jack at Pirates (Norman Island), Leverick Bay (Virgin Gorda), Foxy’s (Jost Van Dyke), and back to Cane Garden Bay in that order.

“Black Jack is one of the most entertaining and easily played card games, so we figured incorporating it into a run will fit for an exciting time on the sea. Similar to “Poker Run” all are invited to follow the run and are welcome to play a hand at an affordable price with the opportunity to win our cash pot of $5,000.00,” this news site was told.

The game is simple and every Friday in March the BVI Spring Fest will be at a Happy Hour Spot educating people about the game; persons will have opportunities to play, and there will also be give away tickets for the shows and also free hands for the run.

“Don’t have a boat to follow the run? Have no fear as the BVI Spring Fest party boat with live entertainment and drinks will be available for everyone to take part in the run and enjoy this day of sailing. For those non sailors and Latinos we haven’t forgot you as ‘Latin Beach Fest’ begins on Quito’s Beach front from 12noon until 5pm with locally-based Latino DJs, and a bikini fashion show, then to close off the night we will have entertainment by another Virgin islands Road March champ Band,” the committee member told this news site.

“Next week we hope to make the announcement of all our entertainers, and start marketing the event at our neighbour islands and nearby USA states hoping to attract some of our spring breakers. If you are interested in marketing your business with our event please email us at bvispringfest@gmail.com. This event is only in its first year and we felt we have put together a reasonable budget to put on an excited weekend for both locals and visitors. We give you a night of old school and a night of new school; you can choose a night that interests you or both, also there will be free shuttle from Road Town to Cane Garden Bay and back with show of ticket. Tickets will be available from February, outlets TBT,” an organizer said.

He added, “We will be launching our Facebook website in a few days so you can find out more about the event, and start preparing for this exciting weekend. Please respect our concept and what we are trying to build here, our goal is to create a spring break weekend for both locals and visitors to take their mind off of life on one of the most beautiful beaches and waters in the world. Sponsorship opportunities are still available and you can do so by emailing bvispringfest@gmail.com.”

Have faith this will benefit the island with local DJ's, bands and it has nothing to do with the NDP

Oooh how creative! Nothing new here. Bvi music fest mixed with the levericks bay poker run. People shouldn't be allowed to use "BVI" in the title of their events without approval from Govt. When the show does horrible then it seems like the country did horrible and not a private promoter did horrible. If a tourist gets hurt then it will seem like the government's fault ir responsibility

The Leverick Bay Poker Run has the benefit of monied sponsors, a dedicated staff of organizers and a lot of experience to make it run as smoothly as it does. I hope the organizers of the Black Jack Run realize that this is no small undertaking. I wish them luck.
