ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Omarie Winter has found himself in hot water again after being found with an illegal weapon and ammunition and has since been remanded to prison.

Winter confessed to unlawfully having a firearm and ammunition when he was brought before the court on February 1, 2017 and was further remanded until February 10, when he will be sentenced by Magistrate Ayana O. Baptiste-DaBreo.

This second brush with the law for the young man came after he was released from jail where he and a few other men were held in relation to a gun incident. They were allegedly found with a gun in the Ghetto/Crabbe Lot area. That matter is still ongoing.

In this latest incident, police reportedly operating on intelligence on January 31, 2017, pounced on Winter's home in Long Trench, Tortola and uncovered a loaded magazine and a 45mm gun‎. Four others were said to have been at the home at the time but were released as police continued their investigation.

Winter is facing a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment or as much as $50,000 fine.

Not everyone that owns a gun has it for the main reason to shoot and kill..... Most ppl have guns because of fear and a level of protection because the public or the Government obviously has not done much for Protecting the People.

Send him to jail for 5 years as the minimum statute states, do not pass go do not give a fine, make a statement every time a gun is found, 5 years minimum

@factsman so because he was born here he should be allowed to carry an illegal firearm? It was an illegal firearm that killed Frankie Fahie and others. The only smart thing you said was that the legal system is one sided. Your boy choosed the other side. The problem is here some families believe they are untouchable because of their names. The Winters were respectable people until some of the young ones start to follow punks like you. Frankie was just a dude I know but the way he died upsets me. Firearm offences should carry a more heavy penalty.

I just pray that you don't have any sons who are his same age or younger. You saying that a 19- Y.O. should have the right to carry an illegal weapon, brings shame hatred and disdain to human society. Just think of how DUMB, HEINOUS and SADISTIC you sound. You are definately ALL SPARK, and you certainly dont deserve to even be near parents who are striving hard to raise kids here in the BVI. SICK SICK SICK describes your behaviour to society here, as a grown adult yourself!!!

What I would like someone to help me understand is, where does a 19 year old get a fire arm from? And who does he live with? Cause I know everything that is in my house since I pay the mortgage. We have to be more accountable as parents, open our eyes.
