ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Today December 12, 2014 two of three men implicated in the murder of Cornel Melbourne Francis, Kavarne Richards and Jefferson Joseph, appeared before Magistrate Ayana Baptiste-DaBreo when the court heard of a $13k price for the life of the now deceased man.

Cornel Melborne Francis was shot multiple times and killed while at the Stickett in Long Look, East End on May 9, 2013.

According to the Crown, Andre Norford, the third party who was recently implicated in the murder and is awaiting extradition to the Virgin Islands to be tried along with Richards and Joseph, was offered $13k for the crime.

The court heard that after the shooting incident both Joseph and Norford were engaged in multiple conversations as it relates to the alleged committed crime when they discussed at length about who did what. It was from those conversations that the court heard that Norford admitted to being the trigger man.

This led the court to securing warrant of removal from the Governor’s Office which allowed them to transport Joseph from the Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) where he is currently doing time for another matter in relation to drugs and guns. It was at that stage he was formally charged after being interviewed.

On the other hand as it relates to Richards’ involvement the court heard that he was the man behind the wheel of the getaway vehicle as Norford’s driver.

Sad to think so many lives worth so little amount of money. To think not only was a man's life worth a mere 13k but others will willing to risk spending their lives in jail for $13k. I'm not sure where the value of life got so lost. Can't imagine anyone thinking it was worth it. Sure hope they can see how messed up their thinking was/is. Crime doesn't pay kids and there is no honor in following a group of thugs. You think your momma carried you for 9 months, birthed you and worked hard to raise you to see you throw life away so easily?
