‘1000 jobs in 1000 days’ - VIP rolls out 2019 Elections Manifesto

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - In front of a packed room last evening, Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the Village Cay Hotel and Marina Conference Room, Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has unveiled the Party’s 2019 election manifesto.

The document that he dubbed the ‘National Agenda’ promises the road map once the VIP is elected. Included in the document as to what the party will do, is to provide 1000 jobs in 1000 days.

Our finances

The manifesto also promised to complete all outstanding audits and to bring expenditures in line with revenues to ensure that the debt of the Territory remains in compliance with acceptable international standards.

They also promised to implement laws, policies and processes that protect sound and prudent fiscal management of the Virgin Islands (VI).

The party also proposed a new Ministry of Tourism, Transport and Environment and serious protection of the environment.

Agriculture

The party plans to revise the agriculture and fishery sectors by providing affordable loans through the National Bank of the VI to farmers and fisher folks according to the document. They also proposed agriculture training at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC).

Sports

In the area of sports, the VIP will upgrade and transform the physical infrastructure of the A. O. Shirley Recreation Ground to a modern multi-sports stadium along with repair and improvements to other sporting facilities like football fields, basketball and tennis courts.

In his presentation, Hon Fahie also noted that “the party is embarking on attracting a new five-star property to the territory.”

    Need clarification. Who will create these jobs, credit shouldn’t be taken if say private employers employ persons to fill positions. I’m understanding that you / the Government will be creating these jobs. If so a one day bush cutting doesn’t count. Good plan anyhow.

    Also since the opposition was so against us getting the money from the UK how are going to fund all these promises, are you planning on using the same money you were against?

    So confused don’t know who to vote for .

    Most of this book looks like it mirrors NDP manifesto, the rest of it is unrealistic.

      NDP does not have a manifesto. For a party that has been in power for 8 years. It is a shame of what they present to the people. I am so disappointed with NDP. I look at VIP Manifesto and they have a better plan. Things that NDP should have achieved already.

    Just put the document out as a PDF not on a site that you have to accept their cookies and information is givvn to 3rd parties. Just make it easy to accwaa.
